Why use my Travel Tags?

I travel extensively with the BBC covering athletics events around the world and I don’t know about you but I detest writing out endless luggage labels every time I am on the move.

There is also a security aspect to consider. How much information should you provide on a baggage tag that can be seen by anyone? My phone number is obviously not a good idea, my name and address? Certainly not! Dates of trip? – this is also unwise!

The problem of course is that baggage goes missing quite regularly and when it is found again I want to be informed at the earliest opportunity.

My Cram-Alert travel tags provide me with total security. I simply put them onto my luggage and sports bags knowing that if anything turns up somewhere unexpected or heaven forbid, I leave something in the back of a taxi – yes I have done that too, I am informed at the earliest opportunity. Let me explain how.....

Firstly I record each trip I take on my Cram-Alert register under ‘Trips’ I can record:

  • Flight times and destinations
  • Dates out and return
  • Accommodation contacts and phone numbers
  • UK representative phone number (In case I cannot be contacted for some reason)
  • My family contact details (already in the main body of the register)
  • Any number of additional notes that would assist in contacting me through my 24/7 Emergency Response Team based in Peterborough.

What happens when I lose my luggage?

The Cram-Alert travel tag gives the finder clear instructions and:

  • Displays the 24/7 UK and International, emergency response team telephone number
  • Displays my unique identification number
  • Displays the words – CALL OWNER

The finder calls my Emergency Response Team from anywhere in the world and importantly from any time zone and at any time. The Team answer immediately and take details of what item has been found and where and the contact details for the airport, taxi driver etc.

My register is opened using the ID number displayed on the travel tag and the team begin the process of contacting me. They check my travel itinery to see where I am and simply start calling:

  • My mobile
  • My wife’s mobile (if she is with me)
  • The hotel
  • My home
  • My UK representative (if needed)

The team continues to call me until contact is made and I can make arrangements with the finder.
